Things to do in the area during winter

The chalet is situated at approx 1500m and is 5 minutes walk from the nearest chair lift which provides direct access to the extensive Four Valleys ski region with 400 kms of ski piste. It is possible to ski to Verbier and back in a day.

There is guaranteed skiing from December until April. Guests with cars can also easily access other famous ski areas in the region such as Crans Montana and Zermatt.

Skiing:

There is a wide variety of skiing available in the Les Masses, Thyon and 4 Vallees area.

For absolute beginners and very small children, there are good high altitude and very well maintained nursery slopes around Thyon which are located close to the car parks and bar/restaurant facilities in Thyon, which is only a 15 minute drive up the mountain from the chalet and costs just 5 CHF per day for parking.

For intermediates the skiing in the Printze area around Thyon, Les Collons and Veysonnaz provides a perfect mix of good blue runs and more challenging red runs, including the world-cup Piste L'Ours and picturesque 5km red run down to Veysonnaz.

For skiiers looking for more challenging runs, there are are many high altitude black and red runs in the ski area around Mont Rouge and Greppon Blanc on the way to Verbier which are also covered by the Printze lift pass area. Also worthy of mention is the leg-warming Etherolla black run that links straight into the Les Masses piste in order to get back to the chalet at the end of the day.

Extending your lift pass to include the the whole of the 4 Vallees, which can be done either on a day or weekly basis, provides access to the massive ski area beyond Siviez, including the Mont Fort and Mont Gele areas.

Advanced skiiers will know that the 4 vallees is renowned to have some of the best off piste skiiing in Europe, with excellent intinerary routes from Mont Gele and Mont Fort back to Siviez and also a fantastic backwoods route from from Greppon Blanc that finishes in Val Dixence close to the chalet.

Snowboarding:

Everything mentioned above for skiiers is relevant to snowboarders, with the exception that the linking runs from Veysonaz to Siviez on the way to Verbier can be a bit tiresome ans involve a certain amount of polling.

However there is an excellent snowpark in Thyon with well prepared and maintained.

Details of the snowpark can be seen on the Thyon region website at:
